Martina Topley Bird

WHAT DO YOU THINK ABOUT MARTINA'S COLLABORATION WITH DANGER MOUSE??

imao new Martina's tracks are more Danger Mouse's style than Martina's ... I mean, melodies and Martina's voice are still awesome but I'm a bit afraid that the arrangements resemble The Good,The Bad And The Queen & Gnarls Barkley too much! What do you think?

Martina's tracks seem to be kinda psychodelic and even when I got to know who the producer of her album is, I didn't compare her songs with other Danger Mouse's work. (Well, I can't even try to compare new Martina's stuff with Gnarls Barkley, 'cos I've never listened to them, except 'Crazy'). Anyway I can agree that there's some similarity to GBQ - kinda "gloomy" (not sure if this is a right word, sorry:) ) atmosphere of the tracks.
Is it good or bad? It'd be bad if people started to say much about that arrangements resemblance;)

Well thats the 64k question: what is Martina's style? She obviously didn't wanna produce it all on her own so naturally the tastes of her collaborators are gonna be imparted.

The production is better than the last album, surely everyone agrees there...

The Blue God STILL hasn't leaked yet seemingly which is quite something.

The point about similarity to GBQ is made in this rather critical piece:

I don't hear any comparison to GBQ album honestly. This much more of a pop album.

it's about the way the bass guitar goes or the drums bang. Listen carefully.

Maybe I'm wrong, but I don't think that bass and drums depend only on Danger Mouse.
Well, ok, there was only one musician who played in The Blue God tracks, so it was easier for Mouse to give his influences there;) But in GBQ there are few musicians and each of them has his own style. And IMO the whole music depended more on Albarn, 'cos he wrote all the songs.

thanks for that;-)

i think it has the same soul as quixotic, it definitley fits, its even better than i expected. the album has so many diff styles of music, just like quixotic you can't really categorize it or label it. shes proved it wasn't just tricky, cause on both her albums i get the same feel as when i first heard her on maxinquaye, musically and everything. shes the best.

the only other danger mouse i know of is the jay z remix..... and dangerdoom... which is dangermouse and mf doom. and i'd have to say they sound nothing alike, or even close to the blue god...lmao this dangermouse guy is a real talented dude i wouldn't be able to pin this on him if i didn't read about it. great producer.

it still feels like martina though, i dunno call me crazy but i think she has great taste in music and they were a good pair for this album. and there really is no one song alike its awsome.
