Best Glastonbury ever…it started out in the worst possible way; zero hours sleep and a broken down van 10 miles outside Bristol…
Lovely weather …we were waiting for the AA for 2 hours… I drank a bottle of Vitamin water on the way ….there were nettles….eek!!!!…but couldn’t fault the styling provided by the Highway Patrol.

Anywho, rescued by the band and my brother we made it in time for our tv appearance for the BBC sans uniforms since they were trapped in traffic… A pretty wacky evening “slot” at the Pussy Parlure, looks like a portable sauna.

Had an early night Friday, pitching the tent at midnight and had the best sleep I’ve had in ages…. Saturday morning and a stripped down (or unplugged in the case of my box) set in the Guardian lounge. Did you see their review of my album? Someone there is always out to screw me. Having said that, most of the crew I met at Glasto were lovely and efficient too. Only a few wired or grumpy bastards, but we have to remember they have to live with themselves, we don’t.

On it went. The weather improved and the atmosphere was amazing, highlights being Schlomo and Leonard Cohen and a wee trip thru Trash City and into Shangri La. I brought my own absinthe. Monday was just lovely too. For me Glasto is about the miracle of this transient makeshift working city. The atmosphere, the food, catching snippets of unknown music on ripples of wind. And as a West Country girl it makes me proud.

Thanks everyone for all your work and adjusting after our well made plans were scuppered. Thanks and hi to everyone who came out to watch, my fave show was in the Guardian lounge. Nothing like a bit of adversity to get the blood pumping : )

Stars shine, veterans impress, youngsters promise at Asiad Offered by Links of
London
GUANGZHOU, Nov. 27 -- The 16th Asian Games may be remembered for years for
furious medal battles, but will be carried for decades through people who shed
tears, sweat or even blood in competition.

Among them are comeback stars, who had fallen off the peak but refused a quick
withdrawal. They restated their form here, shaking off all the doubts against
them.

Hurdler Liu Xiang, one of the most spotlight-catching athletes at the Asiad
which was referred by the Olympic Council of Asia president Sheikh Ahmad Al-Fahad
Al-Sabah as "one of the best ever", returned to his old style with a
record-breaking performance.

The 2004 Olympic winner stormed to a new Asian record of 13.09 seconds Wednesday
evening for his third straight Asiad title in the men's 110m hurdles, drawing
loads of praises from both media and fans.
Liu, the first Chinese man to win an Olympic sprint event, limped off the
Beijing Olympics' track in front of 100,000 spectators even before his heat
started, stunning the whole nation.

Jewelry and accessories have always been the essential accent pieces to any outfit. A beautiful links of london, elegant links of london jewelry , and cocktail links of london charms are usually worn to make a statement. With costume jewelry, estate jewelry, and fashion jewelry, you can’t seem to find both quality and style nowadays. Costume and fashion jewelry are decorative and have the elaborate look without the durability.
After reviewing jewelry designed by Elizabeth Galton, I have a newfound appreciation for art within a jewelry piece: a winning combination of quality and style. This jewelry maker has a strong handmade feel for knitted silver, gold material used in her collection. Her jewelry is not mass produced or renditions of marketplace accessories: this is pure art.

Regarding the Guardian review:
I'm sure you know by now that you shouldn't let any review get you down (particularly by the notoriously high-brow UK press ;-) But, speaking of reviews, I particularly liked the closing statement at BBC's review:
"It's [Blue God] an often astonishing album and one which, if Tricky's forthcoming comeback can't match it, may curse him to be known as 'that bloke who used to rap with Martina Topley Bird'."

That made me chuckle quite a bit :-)

Didn't get to Glastonbury but I saw one performance through a link somewhere.
Sounds like you had a wonderful time (eventually).
The Blue God is far too addictive and melodic. It's stopping me from getting anything done!
Much love Martina!

Glad to hear you had your best Glasto ever, personally I’ve missed only two since 1990, it’s an annual holiday for me.
Saw your set at the portable sauna / Spiegeltent and totally loved it – especially liked the Stranglers cover.
Didn’t manage to catch the Guardian set as I was watching Martha Wainwright on the Pyramid at the time (with by coincidence, Shlomo collaborating on one song). But I did catch you and your ninjas on the Pryamid on Sunday as I really wanted to see a performance on a bigger stage with better sound.
I have to say the vocals sounded much clearer coming through the Pyramids superior sound system - fantastic. Also wanted to hear Too Tough to Die which you had promised to play and low and behold you kept your word – a good way to end the set.
It was a shame though that your slot was so early on the Sunday morning as for my part (and many others I'm sure) I’d been at the festival for five days by then and had been surviving on five hours sleep a night and was exhausted. Thought maybe a hot cider might perk me up – I was wrong!!!
Perhaps, you could manage a live date in Regents Park sometime like you did for the previous album? – that was definitely one to remember.
Anyway, back to Glastonbury; highlights of the weekend for me (other than MTB of course) were Candi Staton, Jimmy Cliff, Groove Armada, Spiritualized and Seasick Steve. And the usual things like the stone circle and the 50’s diner.

There is a review of MTB’s performance on the Pyramid stage at Glastonbury (with photo) on the official website. For all those interested it is available via this link: href="http://www.glastonburyfestivals.co.uk/glastonline2008.aspx?id=3205">

All the best,
Peter
