Some Place Simple - chat

This place could do with a spam clear out. Anyone?

Anyway, mmmm. SPS come out nice I think.

Vocals seems a lot more relaxed, and not nervy, and often better as a result. Liked it a bit more than I thought I would.

Dunno about "All Day" melodically, although the drumming is swell and I'm guessing the faltering at the end of Da Da Da is deliberate. But yeah the arrangement of Poison was interesting. That fast version of Ilya always worked better so it was good to include that. Nice to hear Valentine recorded without the psychedelic efforts that jarred before and the slightly more verbose Orchids, which I presume to be the Joanna Newsom influence, provides a good little shift and thus is quite nice too.

I liked the mobile phone interference sound at the end of the last track where she shows off her not-just-a-pretty-face/voice Harpsichord skills.

Honest opinion - quite decent for what it is.

Ilyah spelt differently perhaps reflects that it is the live reworked version and not the original, though I'm not certain of that.

Too "Tuff" just to be more lighthearted or different presumably.

Leila was meant to produce the 2nd album I dunno if that could still happen and the 3rd proper LP seems many years off really. The next projects she's spoken about doing aren't particularly electronica or involving Leila I don't think.

I do think the Psyche remix and that reggae track she did shows a suitability for that domain.

Sandpaper kisses - were the lyrics "some place simple" in it before? Thats what I noticed about it.

Snowman is a decent melody, if a little low-key... always connect that track to the cover of Golden Brown she did. Phoenix, which is about Leila, probably the strongest... All Day's I don't know about but a lovely drum track and up-tempo feel.

I began doing a cover of Phoenix as it goes, been trying to stay focus with it, proving difficult.

Yes I tried asking MTB for actual remix parts of one of her songs over the course of six years, 3 albums, 4 management companies and 5 promises... still in sarcasm.
