How did you know about Martina?

From Tricky days. I loved early Massive Attack, get the first Tricky album, then heard Martina's voice. WOW :)

I first heard her when I heardof Tricky back in 1995, the summer I graduated from High School. I heard of Tricky from this compilation series called Volume. Then I went and baught his first album and fell in love with Martina's sound.

It All started with Tricky's album Maxinquaye back in 1995 and I was 15...And I was hooked. Constantly thirsting for more...

I consider Tricky's production and her VOICE a catalyst in my life.
A catalyst that started the opening of my 3rd Eye and my senses have never been the same since.

If it wasn't for Martina's Angelic voice, I believe my life would be way WAY different.
I am blessed for being in the right place and the right time when I first heard Martina.

And i am in AWE that a voice so gentle and warm actually reached my headspace in a lil town in Montana, USA...

I also first heard Martina on Maxinquaye and was instantly drawn in. Her voice is the most amazing voice I have ever heard.

I was also lucky enough to see Martina perform live with Gorillaz in Manchester, I was more excited about seeing Martina than seeing Gorillaz although I have to say that the whole production absolutely blew me away, that was one of the best nights of my life :-)

I can't wait for Martina to tour with her new album :-)

A friend left a Tricky cd laying around. Took months to give it a listen. Martina just killed me with that voice (!) A year or so later an indie record store had Quixotic on the headphones to sample. I bought several copies for best buds, then learned about the French cd with a hidden track or two including live stuff, got that, fell in love with her all over again, and then months later she turned up on the Starbucks valentine's day cd and stole it from lots of other artists. Need One is still so shockingly good - I saw the video for the first time, on this site, 10 minutes ago. My musical tastes are wildly gloriously eclectic, and no one does it to me like Martina. I hope that her new videos are as killer as the Quixotic shoots. Tour? I'd pay and pay. I hope this site can put out some live trax for download. Glad to find you all here. All at once is what eternity is . . .

Maxinquaye is where I was exposed to Martina's incredible voice probably about six years ago. She really helped make that LP a classic and her sound was my favorite aspect of the recordings. What caught me off guard from her was the tremendous sensual often sexual quality of her delivery and tone. Out of all the vocalists I have ever heard, there really is not anyone like Martina. Originality and her personal grace is what sets her apart. I am looking forward to the new album. Such a voice demands attention.

think the first time I heard Martina live was a very exclusive gig in a little pub in Cambridge called the Loco...*winks at Martina*... from what I remember it was mostly Billie Holiday covers, but life changing none the less!

The first time i saw her, it was in 1995 ( in LYON ) she do the opening ( with TRICKY of course ) for the PJ HARVEY concert ( TO BRING YOU MY LOVE TOUR )
it was great , so since then i follow his musical career
